Phygital Music Game · 2017
DropMix
A tabletop mixing game from Harmonix and Hasbro, combining physical cards, an LED board and real-time audio.
I was part of the core early team of 4. Gameplay, visual identity, physical materials and manufacturing were worked out together from the start. DropMix was demoed at Toy Fair.
Card Art
I owned card art direction and delivery from dozens of independent illustrators and music poster artists, many of whom had made tour art for the same musicians. I set the visual guidelines and production standards, gave feedback each round, and pulled very different styles into one card system. Box art and packaging were a collaboration with Hasbro.
Print Production
I handled file prep, layout and delivery of print-ready card assets, and worked with printers on paper stock, ink and color consistency.
Testing and Onboarding
Hasbro testing let us A/B song lists, box art and the first-time experience. Onboarding changed from one long video to short steps players moved through at their own pace.
Collection and Sharing
Players built collections, made themed sets and shared MixLinks: saved mixes built from specific cards.
Mobile
DropMix shipped with a companion mobile app. I was also lead artist and art director on an unreleased DropMix mobile matching game.
